Julian Wuchkov

Julian Dimitrov Wuchkov ( Bulgarian Юлиан Вучков ; born January 31, 1936 in Varna , † September 22, 2019 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian essayist , publicist , theater scholar , literary and television theorist , critic and historian .

Live and act

Julian Wutschkow attended high school in Chaskowo . He studied theater and literature. His dissertation was entitled "Bulgarian Dramaturgy 1878-1944", Българската драматургия (1878-1944). Most recently he lived in Sofia.

Wuchkov hosted numerous TV shows, where he was particularly noticeable through a vulgar language and was therefore a frequent subject of the entertainment sector. For a long time he was mistakenly called "Professor". From October 2012 he actually worked as a professor at the Library and Information Technology University in Sofia. He was also editor-in-chief of the theater magazine Teatăr ( Театър ) in Sofia from 1969 to 1990 . He died in Sofia on September 22, 2019

Television shows

Julian Wutschkow worked for a long time at Kanal 1 (today Bulgarian National Television - BNT) on the TV program "Every Sunday" where he founded the program "Food for the Soul" - a program about philosophy and human existence. He later moved to SKAT , a Bulgarian TV station, where he renamed his show “Thoughts and Passions” and hosted it until the end of 2008. Until February 2009 Wutschkow was the presenter of the television program "Zeiten und Sitten" on TV2 . The program was broadcast live, the guests were musicians who performed live without playback or singback. In addition, there was the opportunity to participate in the discussion by phone during the broadcast. However, what some callers abused to get rid of insults or pointlessness. The professor often reacted to these at the same verbally low level. He has a section entitled “The Messages from Julian Wutschkow” in “Die Frauenzeitung”. At the end of February 2009, his show was canceled. He later moved to the TV station BBT, where it was only on the air for 4 months. Wuchkov also worked for Nova Television on the program Здравей, България as a moral observer - once a week for 10 minutes he discussed the morality of Bulgarian society. On September 7, 2010, he brought the program “Zeiten und Sitten” back to life on Kanal 3. Two years later he left the TV channel for better deals.
