Yulianna Andrejewna Avdejewa ( Russian Юлианна Андреевна Авдеева , English Yulianna Avdeeva ; born July 3, 1985 in Moscow ) is a Russian concert pianist.

Career

She began her lessons at the age of five, attended the state Gnessin music school in Moscow and completed her training at the Zurich University of the Arts . After graduating, she became the assistant to her teacher Konstantin Scherbakov . Since 2008 she has been studying at the International Piano Academy on Lake Como .

She received international recognition as the winner of the Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2010. She is the fourth woman to have won this prize since Halina Czerny-Stefańska , Bella Davidovich ( ex aequo 1949) and Martha Argerich (1965).

Discography

After winning the Warsaw Chopin Competition in 2010, the Mirare label released Yulianna Avdejewa's CD debut in 2014. In February 2016, a further recording with works by Mozart, Chopin and Liszt was released on the Mirare label, and in October 2017 a new CD with a selected program with works by Johann Sebastian Bach.
