Juliet is a pop song and the second single from Modern Talking's eleventh album , Victory .

Origin and content

The song was written and produced by Dieter Bohlen himself. Unlike the other songs that Modern Talking has previously released, the song has influences from classic disco music and is based on Alicia Bridges ' song I Love the Nightlife . The lyrics are about a woman whom the protagonist describes as complicated, but with whom he still enjoys the nightlife. Dieter Bohlen stated that the idea for the song came to him after a night of partying in the Hamburg celebrity bar Wollenberg. However, producer Boris Dlugosch accused Bohlen of using a sample from the song Starlight by the French band The Supermen Lovers and Mani Hoffman in addition to the hookline from I Love the Nightlife .

Publication and reception

Juliet was released on April 29, 2002 by Hansa Records and reached the charts in various European countries. In Germany the single made it to number 25. In Austria it came to number 42, in Switzerland to number 83. The single also contained the song in the 5:08 minute remix version by Jeo and two additional titles. Thomas Anders later covered the song.
