The 1st Album is the debut album by the German pop duo Modern Talking . It was published by BMG / Hansa in April 1985 .

history

After the first release You're My Heart, You're My Soul was already released in October 1984 and initially went unnoticed, it was broadcast in January 1985 when the video was broadcast on Formula One, which was then one of the most famous music shows on German television to success.

As with the aforementioned debut single, most of the tracks on the entire album were sung by Thomas Anders , only Dieter Bohlen took over the lead vocal in There's Too Much Blue in Missing You . The Night Is Yours - The Night Is Mine and Lucky Guy existed before the album as a solo single by Ryan Simmons, a pseudonym of Dieter Bohlen, the second also as a German version by Thomas Anders.

The cover photo of the album came from Manfred Vormstein , Fryderyk Gabowicz was responsible for the design . Even then, the duo's videos, which were initially produced with little financial effort, caught the eye. Ingolf Lück , the presenter of Formula One at the time , said that he only broadcast the video of You're My Heart, You're My Soul for fun.

Success and criticism

The debut album was a huge hit. It reached number one in Germany , number two in Austria and Switzerland . High chart positions were also recorded in the Netherlands and Scandinavia . By November 1985 the album had already sold a million times. The website Allmusic rated the record with four out of five stars and the rating "AMG Album Pick".
