Julius Dreger

Julius Dreger (born September 16, 1861 in Trieste , † September 30, 1945 in Königstetten ) was an Austrian geologist and paleontologist .

Life

During his studies in 1883 he became a member of the Libertas Vienna fraternity . Dreger was established in 1887 at the University of Vienna Dr. phil. PhD . From 1890 to 1892 he was an assistant at the Geological Institute of the University of Vienna. In the period from 1892 to 1923 Dreger was employed at the Geological Reich and Federal Institute in Vienna. Most recently he held the position of chief geologist and vice director there.

As a paleontologist, Dreger dealt with tertiary brachiopods and mollusks . Later he only worked as a geologist.
