Julius Scheuerer
Julius Scheuerer (born January 30, 1859 in Munich , † April 11, 1913 in Planegg ) was a German animal painter, older brother of the animal painter Otto Scheuerer (1862-1934), active in Munich.
Julius Scheuerer studied briefly at the Munich Art Academy , but is not listed in the matriculation book. He learned his painting trade mainly as an autodidact , possibly with the help of his brother.
Scheuerer became a member of the Munich artists' cooperative . The Dutch old masters were the models for his painting. He is referred to in the Thieme-Becker artist lexicon as a “poultry painter” because of his most popular motif.
On October 6, 2019, an episode of NDR's Lieb & Teuer program was broadcast, which was filmed in Reinbek Castle and hosted by Janin Ullmann . A painting by Scheuerer was discussed with the painting expert Beate Rhenisch, which shows a capercaillie with chicks.
