Julius Scheybal

Julius Scheybal (born March 29, 1930 ; † July 5, 2000 in Vienna ) was an Austrian guitarist who worked as a jazz and session musician.

Scheybal worked as a professional musician from the mid-1950s; he had been a member of the Theater an der Wien orchestra since the early 1960s . He also played in Austrian easy listening combos such as Claudius Alzner and his soloists, Toni Stricker- Schrammeln, Willi Fantl and his ensemble and in the Robert Opratko orchestra , as well as a session musician until 1972 for various recordings, among others. a. the ORF Big Band , by Art Farmer ( Gentle Eyes 1972), Fatty George , Michael Danzinger ( Piano Cocktail ), Karl Steinwendtner, Helmut Qualtinger , Erika Pluhar , Arik Brauer and André Heller ( record 1970), for whom he and Robert Opratko composed the song for Erika Pluhar . From 1975 he taught jazz guitar at the Vienna Conservatory of Music . His students include a. Claus Spechtl, Josef Peter Traun and Claudius Jelinek. Scheybal died in 2000 and was buried at the Inzersdorfer Friedhof (group 1, row 37, number 11). In 2002 his album More Sun - For and with Friends was released.
