Robert Opratko
Robert Opratko (born March 17, 1931 in Vienna ; † September 9, 2018 in Purbach am Neusiedler See , Burgenland ) was an Austrian musician and university professor .
Opratko is the composer of many songs by well-known Austrian musicians such as Ludwig Hirsch , Michael Heltau , Marianne Mendt (including "So a Tag", "I mechat invisbar sein") and André Heller (including "A Zigeina mecht i sein", "Das famous Jean- Harlow song ").
He also made a name for himself as an arranger and conductor , for example in 1971 at the Eurovision Song Contest (at that time still “Grand Prix de la Chanson”) in Dublin for Marianne Mendt or with his “Orchester Robert Opratko” as accompaniment by Freddy Quinn , Peter Alexander and Udo Jürgens .
He later became head of department at the Vienna Conservatory and music professor. Robert Opratko had been Vice President of the AKM since 1980 and was its President from 2013 until June 2018. In 2016 he received the Golden Decoration of Honor for Services to the State of Vienna .
Robert Opratko was buried in the cemetery in Purbach.
