June Griffith

June Griffith ( June Marcia Griffith, married Collison; born June 16, 1957 ) is a former Guyanese sprinter and long jumper .

Athletic career

At the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton in 1978 , she won bronze in the long jump, was fifth over 400 m and was eliminated over 200 m in the semifinals.

In 1979 she won silver over 400 m at the Pan American Games in San Juan and came fifth in the 4 x 400 meter relay with the American team at the World Cup in Athletics in Montreal .

At the Athletics World Cup in Rome in 1981 , she was third with the American 4 x 400 meter relay.

In 1982 she won the 400 m at the Central America and Caribbean Games and was eighth at the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane . The following year she was eliminated over the same distance at the World Athletics Championships in 1983 in Helsinki in the quarterfinals and was fifth at the Pan American Games in Caracas .

At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, she reached the semifinals over 400 m.

In 1979 she was US indoor champion over 440 yards .
