Jungfrau region

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Jungfrau region is a hiking and skiing region in the Bernese Oberland . The tourist destination includes the Lütschinen valleys .

Establishment of the tourism association

Jungfrau Region is a touristic association of the places Grindelwald , Wengen , Mürren , Lauterbrunnen and Haslital.

The term was only advertised as a brand in recent years and refers to the Jungfrau , a four-thousand-meter peak which , along with the Eiger and Mönch, is one of the most famous mountains in the Alps. The area is part of the Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage Site, which was declared in 2001 .

In 2012, the government council of the canton of Bern decreed the merger of the tourism destinations Interlaken ( Interlaken Tourismus , TOI), Jungfrau-Region ( Jungfrau Region Tourismus  AG, JRMAG) and Haslital (Haslital Tourismus ), as the number of destinations in the canton was to be reduced from ten to five . As of 2014, however, the local tourism organizations were able to convince the government council to keep the Interlaken and Jungfrau region destinations for the Oberland-Ost. However, the government council called for a marketing cooperation. The Haslital are free to decide on accession itself, but it would remain standing alone no setup according Tourism Development Regulation .
