Junna Sakai ( Japanese 境 純 菜 Sakai Junna ; * on November 2, 2000 in Nagoya , Aichi Prefecture ), known by her stage name JUNNA ( じ ゅ ん な ), is a Japanese pop musician .

life and career

Junna was born on 2 November 2000 in Nagoya in Aichi prefecture born. Her career began when she lent her voice to the fictional character Mikumo Guynemer, lead singer of the fictional band Walküre , from the anime series Macross Δ . At the time she was only 14 years old, making her the youngest performer in the 35-year history of the franchise . After the broadcast of the last episode of the anime, Junna played a two-day concert in the Yokohama Arena with the other voice actors in the series , which was sold out on both days. The concert was recorded and released on DVD.

In March 2017 it was decided that Junna would start a solo career as a pop singer and complete a small tour with stops in Tokyo , Osaka and her hometown Nagoya . Already in June of the same year Vai! Ya! Vai! her first mini-album. This was able to place itself straight away at number 21 in the Japanese album charts by Oricon and remained in the list of the best for three weeks. On August 11th and 12th, 2017, JUNNA performed its first concert in the United States as part of the Anime Expo . In November 2017 she released the single Here , which can be heard in the opening credits of the first twelve episodes of the anime series The Magician's Bride . The single reached number 14 and stayed in the national singles charts for 16 weeks. Also received Here a gold record in Japan.

In 2018 she completed her second tour of Japan with stops in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Sendai to celebrate the release of her first solo single. During this tour she announced her second single, which can be heard in the credits of Lord of Vermillion , for July of the same year. On October 31, 2018, Sai ga Utsukushii Nante, Dare ga Itta appeared with 17. their first full-fledged debut album, which jumped to number twelve on the Oricon album charts and stayed there for three weeks.

In 2019 she sang the song Kono Yubito Mare , which was used for the second season of the anime series Kakegurui . In the same year Junna contributed with Iru Imi to the end title of the anime series BEM , a new edition of the series Humanoid Monster Bem .

Private

When asked about her username on Twitter and Instagram , which is junnarockyou, when asked whether she listened to rock music and who her favorite rock artists were, Junna replied that she liked rock music and particularly appreciated One Ok Rock . Still, the username has nothing to do with it.
