Juozas Preikšas

Juozas Preikšas (born November 22, 1926 in Griškabūdis , Šakiai district ; † February 11, 2018 ) was a Lithuanian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Panevėžys .

Life

Juozas Preikšas was ordained a priest for the diocese of Vilkaviškis on September 23, 1951 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Vilkaviškis and Kaunas and titular bishop of Egnatia on October 31, 1984 . The Apostolic Administrator of Kaunas and Vilkaviškis, Liudas Povilonis MIC , donated him episcopal ordination on December 2nd of the same year ; Co - consecrators were Vincentas Sladkevicius MIC, Apostolic Administrator of Kaišiadorys and Antanas Vaičius , Apostolic Administrator of Telšiai .

On April 27, 1988 was appointed Apostolic Administrator of Kaunas and Vilkaviškis. On April 2, 1989, Panevėžys was appointed Apostolic Administrator. On December 24, 1991, he was appointed Bishop of Panevėžys . On January 5, 2002, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
