Juozas Statkevičius
Juozas Statkevičius (pseudonym Josef Statkus ; born October 15, 1968 in Kaunas ) is a Lithuanian fashion designer, costume designer for fashion and theater .
Life
From 1984 Statkevičius attended the Stepas Žukas technical center for applied arts in Kaunas , where he learned clothing modeling . In 1988, immediately after graduating from this technical school, he began studying clothing modeling at the Vilnius Art Academy . In 1993 Statkevičius graduated from the Academy and in the same year traveled to the Arnhem Academy of Arts ( Netherlands ) for two months after obtaining a diploma . He then completed a three-month internship in Stockholm , Sweden. In 2000 Statkevičius continued his education in France , in the Parisian Angelo Tarlazzi fashion house. He exhibited many of his fashion collections in Lithuania and abroad, including Paris (2001 and 2002). Statkevičius was the first Lithuanian to appear in fashion magazines such as Elle and Vogue . Björk , Kyra Sedgwick , Naomi Watts etc. were among his clients .
On December 12, 2001, Juozas Statkevičius founded his own company UAB Fashion House Juozas Statkevičius and runs it as director. His company is based in the old town of Vilnius and has 13 employees (as of 2018).
Private life
Statkevičius is single and childless. He lives in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius .
His cousin is Irena Degutienė (* 1949), a conservative politician, the first Lithuanian parliament speaker (as a woman), and two-time prime minister.
