Jurij Maximow ( Ukrainian Юрій Максімов , scientific transliteration Jurij Maksimov ; Russian Юрий Вильевич Максимов ; born December 8, 1968 in Cherson ) is a former Ukrainian professional footballer. Maximow was a central midfielder and is known in Germany from his season at Werder Bremen .

career

Maximov moved to Bremen for the 97/98 season via Dnipro Dnipropetrowsk and Dynamo Kiev for 1,500,000 DM. In his four years in the Bundesliga he scored 9 goals in 69 games and was doing a sending off . In July 2001 Maximow moved to the second division SV Waldhof Mannheim . In his two playing years there Maximow scored 3 goals in 27 games. He then played another year for FK Rostov in the Russian Premjer League . He then moved back to Ukraine, where he was briefly the player-coach of Borysfen Boryspol, and ended his playing career at the age of 35 with Metalurh Zaporizhia .

In Eastern Europe Maximov stayed with football: In the following years he worked, among other things, as a coaching assistant for the Belarusian first division club FK Dinamo Minsk and as head coach in the Ukrainian second division. In the 2008/09 season he was promoted to the Ukrainian Premjer-Liha with FK Obolon Kiev . In the next winter break, however, he moved to league rivals Krywbas Krywyj Rih .

Success as a player

  • Ukrainian champion in 1995, 1996 and 1997 with Dynamo Kiev
  • Ukrainian cup winner 1996 with Dynamo Kiev
  • DFB Cup winner 1999 with Werder Bremen . In the final against Bayern Munich Maximow scored the 1-0 himself, which was later equalized. The game was decided on penalties, with Maximov not appearing as a shooter.
