Justin Hamilton (born April 1, 1990 in Newport Beach , California ) is an American basketball player who is currently under contract with the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA .
Early years
Hamilton was born on April 1, 1990 in Newport Beach to an American football player and a volleyball player . Hamilton, however, wanted to try new things. Still, he didn't start playing basketball until high school, having previously skated and snowboarded .
Career
college
In 2008 he got the chance to play for Iowa State University . He had a mediocre first season, he could only score 4.2 points per game, but he only got around 13 minutes of playing time. His field throw rate this season was 57%. The next season he got around eight minutes more playing time per game, and he was able to increase his field throw rate and points per match. In 2010, however, he moved to Louisiana State University . He had to take a year off, but in his senior year he led his team, he had the most points (12.9), the most rebounds (7.2), the most blocks (1.3) per game and was in further statistics one of the best players on his team. after the season he signed up for the NBA draft .
professional
In the 2012 NBA Draft on June 28, 2012, he was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers , but traded to the Miami Heat team that same night . Instead of starting his career with the Miami Heat, he signed with Cibona Zagreb for the 2012/13 season and became the Croatian Supercup winner in 2012. In January 2013 he moved to Latvia and in September 2013 he moved back to the USA to play in the Playing D-League for the Sioux Falls Skyforce . There he was able to draw more attention to himself and was finally signed by the Charlotte Bobcats . Over the period from 2014 to 2015, he made a total of 49 games, none of them in the playoffs, for the teams from Charlotte , Miami (the club that originally drafted him) and Minnesota . With the heat he reached the final of the NBA , which, however , could win the San Antonio Spurs . From 2015 to 2016 he was under contract in Spain. In the summer of 2016, he signed a contract with the Brooklyn Nets . After only one season with the Nets, he was traded in exchange for DeMarre Carroll to the Toronto Raptors , who released him immediately afterwards.
