Justin Papineau (born January 15, 1980 in Ottawa , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with Adler Mannheim in the German Ice Hockey League .
Career
Justin Papineau began his career as a hockey player with the Belleville Bulls , for whom he played for a total of four years in the Canadian Junior League OHL from 1996 to 2000 . During this time he was first selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1998 in the second round as a total of 46 players by the Los Angeles Kings . However, since this did not take him under contract in the following two seasons and he was still active in the OHL for Belleville, the attacker could be selected again after a two-year period in the NHL Entry Draft 2000 . The St. Louis Blues finally drafted him in the third round as the 75th player.

Before the 2000/01 season Papineau was included in the roster of the Worcester IceCats from the American Hockey League (AHL), the farm team of the Blues. In the following two seasons, the center came only sporadically to missions for the Blues in the National Hockey League , so that he was mainly on the ice in the AHL. On March 11, 2003 Papineau was given together with the second-round suffrage of the Blues in the NHL Entry Draft 2003 to the New York Islanders . In return, St. Louis received Chris Osgood and the third-round suffrage of the Islanders in the 2003 Entry Draft. Until the end of the 2002/03 season, the attacker played for both the Islanders and their AHL farm team, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers . In the following season he was exclusively for New York in the NHL on the ice and scored 13 points scorer in 64 games, including eight goals. During the lockout of the 2004/05 NHL season , Papineau played the entire season for the Sound Tigers in the AHL. After resumption of play in the NHL in the 2005/06 season , the Canadian no longer came for the Islanders for further missions, so he was taken on August 10, 2006 by the New Jersey Devils as a free agent under contract. After another season that Papineau had spent exclusively in the AHL with New Jersey's farm team, the Lowell Devils , the Canadian signed a contract as a free agent with the EHC Basel from the Swiss National League A on June 21, 2007 .
Even after the year abroad in Switzerland, Papineau stayed in Europe and switched to the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg from the German Ice Hockey League in summer 2008 . From the 2009/10 season he was under contract with Adler Mannheim. In 2012 he ended his career.
