Justus Elias chest
Justus Elias Kasten (born July 31, 1774 in Hanover ; † August 3, 1855 there ) was a German painter .
Life
According to the Hannoversches Biographisches Lexikon and the Stadtlexikon Hannover, nothing is known about the origins of Justus Elias Kasten, his youth and training . However, the book Alt-Hannover reported differently : According to this, Justus Elias Kasten (born August 1, 1774 in Hannoversch-Münden ) was born as the son of the farewell sergeant Jobst Kasten and was mentioned in 1786 by the painter Johann Heinrich Ramberg .
In 1833 he became a court theater painter in Hanover and since then has lived in Kniehauerstrasse . In 1842 he became a member of the Hanover Art Association . In 1851, Kasten held the title of courtyard decoration painter who lived on Grosse Wallstrasse .
Kasten is considered a likely teacher of the Hanoverian drawing teacher Wilhelm Kretschmer .

- a view of the (old) St. Nicolaifriedhof in Hanover, a gouache from 1820 in the possession of the Lower Saxony State Museum
