Fighters ( Japanese け ん ぷ フ ァ ー , Kenpufā ) is the title of a light novel series written by Toshihiko Tsukiji and illustrated by Senmu. The first copy of the still ongoing series was published November 24, 2006. The book series was adapted as both a manga and an anime television series.
action
The average high school student Natsuru Senō wakes up one morning to the remarkable discovery that he has turned into a girl. It seems even more absurd to him that his Harakiri tiger (cuddly toy) speaks to him and can move. So he learns that from now on he is a "fighter" and that he is under a contract, which is symbolized by his blue bracelet. Waking up the next day, he believes that what had happened last night was just a dream, and meets Kaede Sakura on the way to school.
While attending school, they are unexpectedly attacked by Akane Mishima, who has been transformed into a "fighter," which makes Natsuru's bracelet glow. Remembering Harakiri's words that he would transform shortly after lighting up, he disappears from Kaede's field of vision. In the following argument, both Kaede and Akane are saved from death by Natsuru's female self, which triggers a strong affection for the female Natsuru in Kaede. After the dispute has been settled, Natsuru is approached at school by the normal Akane, who turns out to be a very reserved girl. From her he finally learns that because of the bracelet in the same color, they should both belong to the same team, whose opponents should be visible on a red bracelet. As the story progresses, Akane and Natsuru quickly meet the first member of the "Red faction", who represent the opponents. However, this person turns out to be the head girl of the school of the two. The head girl Shizuku, however, wants it to remain a secret in the school that these fighters exist and thus she ensures that Natsuru also goes to this school in his female form. Furthermore, problems arise again and again because Natsuru cannot control his transformation yet.
After a while, however, the blue and red fighters become friends because they see no point in fighting each other as no one can tell them the reason why they would have to fight. However, after a certain time, the “white fighters” turn on, so that fighting starts again.
Characters
- Natsuru Senō ( 瀬 能 ナ ツ ル , Senō Natsuru )
- He is the protagonist of the series and an ordinary student in the second year of the private (Seitetsu Gakuin High School). He has been designated as a member of the blue team and has magical powers ("spells") based on fire. But since all “fighters” have to be female, he undergoes a sex change every time he is transformed. This has numerous disadvantages for him, as he is always confronted with the other gender role and stupidly falls in love with his secret love Kaede in his female self.
- Akane Mishima ( 美 嶋 紅 音 , Mishima Akane )
- She is a librarian who quickly becomes Natsuru's friend and is also a blue fighter. In normal form, extremely shy and reserved, their personality changes dramatically during the transformation. She throws swear words around her, is usually angry, vengeful and, above all, trigger-happy. As a so-called “rifle type”, it uses all kinds of handguns, including machine guns. Over time, she falls in love with the male form of Natsuru and repeatedly falls into perverse fantasies in her mind, which is particularly evident in conversations where she repeatedly interprets words as sexual innuendos.
- Shizuku Sangō ( 三 郷 雫 , Sangō Shizuku )
- She is the chairman of the student council and is one of the beauties of Seitetsu. She is considered extremely exemplary and has never missed a lesson so far. In addition, however, she is also a fighter on the red team and uses two daggers tied with chains as a weapon. Your goal is to see through the moderator's intentions. As long as she has not yet achieved this goal, there are always arguments with the blue team, which she joins at a later section of the plot. She has an ambivalent relationship with Natsuru. On the one hand, she is in love with both of its forms and, on the other hand, she loves to have fun at his expense.
- Mikoto Kondō ( 近 堂 水 琴 , Kondō Mikoto )
- She is Natsuru's childhood friend, who traveled the world for a long time with her father, an archaeologist. Because of her experience of leading a risky life, she is extremely careless and fearless even after her return. She too developed strong feelings for Natsuru from childhood and is accordingly jealous of the other girls around him. She also turned into a fighter and belongs to the red team and uses a katana as a weapon.
