Käthe Lindenberg

Käthe Lindenberg (born July 16, 1906 in Berlin , † December 14, 1980 in Stuttgart ) was a German stage, film and television actress .

Life

The Berliner received acting lessons from Julius Arnfeld in Breslau in 1927 . Käthe Lindenberg started her first engagement in 1929. Theater stations were until 1945 a. a. Remscheid and Essen, after the war Stuttgart (Neues Theater), Basel ( comedy ), Frankfurt am Main (under Fritz Rémond junior ), Stuttgart (state theater, comedy) and Berlin ( Renaissance theater ).

Her best-known roles include Frau Wolff in Der Biberpelz , Vera Louise Simmons in the rabbit comedy Harvey , Claudia in Lessing's drama Emilia Galotti , Queen Isabeau in The Maiden of Orléans , Marthe Rull in Kleist's comedy Der zerbrochne Krug , Mrs. Peachum in Brechts / Weill's Die Dreigroschenoper , Marthe Schwerdtlein in Goethe's Faust , Frau Schicketanz in Der Lügner und die Nun (after Curt Goetz ) and Lady Brackwell in Bunbury by Oscar Wilde. Käthe Lindenberg was seen several times in plays based on models by George Bernard Shaw : Mrs. Higgins in Pygmalion , Katharina in Helden and Mrs. Warren in Mrs. Warren's trade .

Käthe Lindenberg only appeared late in front of the camera. Apart from tiny roles in three movies (including two with Johannes Heesters ) from 1950, the plump, chubby Berliner was regularly seen in television productions from 1954 onwards. Lindenberg's specialty were maternal types but also character roles in literary adaptations. Käthe Lindenberg gave her farewell performance in 1974 at the side of seasoned acting veterans such as Lil Dagover , Ernst Fritz Fürbringer and Johanna Hofer in Ludwig Cremer's production Memento Mori . Then she retired to old age.

She was married to the actor Heinrich Diedrich .
