Kömpöc is a Hungarian community in the county Kiskunmajsa in Bács-Kiskun .

Geographical location

Kömpöc is located ten kilometers southeast of the city of Kiskunmajsa . Neighboring municipalities are Csólyospálos, Kistelek , Csengele and Balástya .

history

Kömpöc was mentioned in writing as early as 1436. Tobacco cultivation played an important role in the history of the place . The first school building was built in 1879. Kömpöc has been an independent municipality since 1950.

In Kömpöc there is the Roman Catholic primary school Szent Ágoston with a kindergarten, a library, post office and the mayor's office. Most of the inhabitants of the predominantly agricultural place live from cattle breeding and plant cultivation .
