Royal Saxon Order Chancellery
The Royal Saxon Order Chancellery was established in 1832 and existed until 1918. The chancellery , based in Dresden, regulated all matters relating to the Order of the Kingdom of Saxony until it was dissolved .
history
The order's chancellery was hierarchically subordinate to the courtly ministry of the royal house . The seat of the law firm was in the castle wing of the royal palace in Dresden on the corner of Schloßstraße and Taschenberg . The office was headed by a chancellor. Subordinate to him was the order secretary and an order chancellery.
The law firm was financed with an annual budget which, with a few exceptions, was financed by the Saxon state budget. For example, the annual budget of 1910 reached 39,500 marks . The sudden increase in the award of medals and decorations that began at the turn of the century led to the rapid exhaustion of the annual budget, which is why from 1908/1909 the increasing additional costs had to be paid for with grants. With the austerity doctrine introduced by the Order Chancellor, which among other things prescribed the use of inferior metals and required a simplified embossing, the quality of the decorations deteriorated. In addition, there was a tightening of the obligation to return after the death of the borrower or when any higher order classes were awarded. The financial crisis of the firm with the outbreak of was tightened First World War , of a renewed abrupt increase of ceremonies among others for the 1915 donated Kriegsverdienstkreuz moved to it.
On December 19, 1918, the Order's Chancellery was due to the previous events of the November Revolution and the abdication of Friedrich August III. dissolved. The tasks of the Ordenskanzlei were now carried out by the Saxon State Chancellery .
