Hans von Thümmel

Julius Hans von Thümmel (born May 25, 1824 in Gotha ; † February 12, 1895 in Dresden ) was a German administrative lawyer and ministerial official in the Kingdom of Saxony. He was finance minister and chairman of the entire ministry.

Life

Thümmel was the son of Oberforstmeister Ernst von Thümmel († 1838) and grandson of Minister Hans Wilhelm von Thümmel . He enrolled at the University of Jena for law and became active in the Corps Franconia Jena in 1845 . As an inactive , he moved to the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and the Universität Leipzig . With Konstantin von Wangenheim he was reciprocated on June 29, 1847 by the CC of the Corps Lusatia Leipzig as an honorary member of the old kind . After successfully completing his studies, he joined the Saxon State Justice Service. In 1859 he was appointed lecturer council and department director in the Ministry of Finance. In this role he was involved in negotiating and signing trade and customs contracts in the 1860s. With the title of Privy Finance Council , he was from 1867 authorized representative of the Kingdom of Saxony to the Federal Council of the North German Confederation . On March 17, 1890, he was appointed Saxon Finance Minister as the successor to Léonçe von Könneritz . With effect from January 1, 1892, he also succeeded the deceased Chairman of the General Ministry Karl von Gerber . He held both offices until his death in February 1895. He was buried in the cemetery in Nöbdenitz .
