Karl Wolf von Ehrenstein (born July 27, 1805 in Chemnitz , † June 2, 1862 in Dresden ) was a German politician. In 1849 he served briefly as Minister of Finance in the Kingdom of Saxony .

Life

Karl Wolf von Ehrenstein was born the son of the Royal Saxon Lieutenant Colonel and barracks commander Karl August von Ehrenstein (1771–1831) and his wife Christiane Amalie von Ziegesar (1780–1861).

After Robert Georgi's resignation in February 1849, Ehrenstein became Saxon Finance Minister. However, he only exercised this office temporarily from mid-February 1849 until his resignation after the Dresden May uprising for a few months. His successor in office was Johann Heinrich August von Behr . However, Ehrenstein remained the “right hand” of the new minister, who had little knowledge of financial policy.

Ehrenstein was married to Luise Sophie Freiin von Uckermann-Bendeleben (1811–1903) since 1832. The couple had three sons, including Georg Otto von Ehrenstein (from 1887 to 1906 district chief of Leipzig ).
