Werner Rudolf Heinrich von Watzdorf (born December 19, 1836 in Dresden ; † February 29, 1904 there ) was a German Minister of State and Finance in the Kingdom of Saxony.

Life

Werner von Watzdorf comes from the ancient Thuringian nobility . His father was Rudolph Friedrich Theodor von Watzdorf , owner of the manors Störmthal and Liebertwolkwitz .

He attended the St. Augustin high school in Grimma from 1850 to 1855 . After graduating from high school, he studied law at the University of Leipzig . From 1856 he was a member of the Corps Misnia Leipzig . Gustav von Metzsch and Artur Odescalchi were active with him. In 1868, he married Rosa Clara Freiin von Könneritz (1823–1906), sister of his predecessor in the office of Finance Minister Léonçe Freiherr von Könneritz and daughter of the Saxon ambassador Hans Heinrich Graf von Könneritz on the manor Erdmannsdorf . From 1895 he was Saxony's finance minister. As a result of the cost explosion in the construction of the Chemnitz Valley Railway , he had to resign in 1902. Died at the age of 63, he was buried in the Johannisfriedhof (Dresden) .
