Leonce Robert Freiherr von Könneritz (born March 4, 1835 in Paris , † January 20, 1890 in Dresden ) was a German manor owner , lawyer and conservative politician. He was u. a. Member of the Saxon parliament , Amtshauptmann in Chemnitz , District Chief of Zwickau and Leipzig and from 1876 until his death Saxon finance minister .

Life

The son of the Saxon diplomat Count Hans Heinrich von Könneritz (1790–1863) and his wife Luise Clara born. von Werthern-Beichlingen (* 1798) comes from a family of high Saxon officials. After visiting the Blochmann's Institute in Dresden, he studied from 1853 to 1856 at the University of Leipzig law . In 1857 he took over his manor Erdmannsdorf from his father . On June 9, 1863, Könneritz married Maria Countess von Beust (1845–1926), the only daughter of the Austrian Prime Minister Friedrich Ferdinand von Beust , with whom he had four children. In 1862 he was appointed chamberlain appointed, from 1864 to 1874, he held the post of official captain from Chemnitz. In this function he took part in the opening of the Chemnitz-Hainichen railway line. During the Franco-Prussian War he was Prefect of Orléans from January to March 1871 and Lorraine Prefect of Metz from March to September 1871 .

He was a member of the Second Chamber of the Saxon State Parliament from 1866 to 1868 as a representative of the manor owners in the Erzgebirge district, and from 1869 to 1876 as a member of the 32nd rural constituency.

In 1874 he was promoted to head of the district of Zwickau, but took over the post of head of the district of Leipzig in January 1876 as the successor to Ludwig von Burgsdorff (1812–1875). In 1875, Könneritz was one of the founders of the Conservative State Association in Saxony . From January 1874 to January 1877 he was also a representative of the 14th Saxon constituency in the German Reichstag and belonged to the faction of the German Reich Party . From 1866 to 1890 he was also chairman of the district estates of the Erzgebirge district .

In October 1876, Könneritz was appointed Minister of Finance (1875–1890) to the Saxon government in Dresden. Otto Georg Graf zu Münster (1825-1893) followed him in the office of district chief . During his tenure as Minister of Finance, the introduction and implementation of income tax legislation, the construction of numerous Saxon railway lines and the nationalization of Freiberg ore mining fall.

Könneritz died on January 20, 1890 at the age of 54 in Dresden. The Erdmannsdorf manor was taken over by his eldest son, Hans Heinrich von Könneritz (1864–1924).

Since 1848 von Könneritz was a member of the Corps Misnia Leipzig .

His brother Richard von Könneritz (1828–1910) was President of the First Chamber of the Saxon State Parliament .

Honors

With the incorporation of the community Schleußig into the city of Leipzig, the former main street was named after L. Freiherr von Könneritz in 1891 (Könneritzstraße; 1965–1991: Maurice-Thorez- Straße), the steel truss bridge along this street also bears the name Könneritzbrücke . In addition, the Könneritzstrasse in Dresden is named after him (1947–1990: Paul-Gruner- Strasse). He was an honorary citizen of the city of Chemnitz .
