Heinrich Rudolf (von) Schurig (born March 4, 1835 in Radeberg , † June 15, 1901 in Dresden ) was a German lawyer and politician. In the Kingdom of Saxony, he held the office of Minister of Justice and Chairman of the Ministry as a whole.

Heinrich Rudolf Schurig was the son of the Radeberg cantor Gottfried August Schurig, who had become music director in Friedrichstadt (Dresden) in 1843 . Heinrich Rudolf Schurig studied from 1854 to 1857 Law and graduated with doctorate to Dr. iur. from. During his studies in the summer of 1854 he became a member of the Leipzig University Choir of St. Pauli (now the German Choir ). He then entered the civil service. Since the winter semester of 1864/65, he was appointed court actuary at the same time as an extraordinary lecturer with lectures in law at the Tharandt Forest Academy . In 1872 he was appointed as a councilor to the district court and as a member of the board at the commercial court in Chemnitz . In 1876 he moved as a councilor to the Dresden Court of Appeal (since 1879 Dresden Higher Regional Court ). There he was appointed president of the regional court in 1884. He also acted as royal commissioner for the legal exams at the University of Leipzig , where he was awarded an honorary doctorate . In 1888 he was appointed department director in the Ministry of Justice and the Secret Council . After the death of Christian Wilhelm Ludwig von Abeken in 1890 he became Saxon Minister of Justice. On February 12, 1895, he also took over the chairmanship of the entire ministry (Prime Minister) from Hans von Thümmel . He held both offices until his death.

As the Royal Saxon State Minister, Schurig was also Chancellor of the Royal Saxon Order of Albrecht. His official title in this function was: Dr. Jur. Heinrich Rudolf Schurig, Excell., Minister of State.

Schurig died in Dresden at the age of 66 and was buried in the St. Pauli cemetery .
