The Königstadt-Carrée also Office-Tower is an 80-meter-high skyscraper built between 2007 and 2011 in Berlin-Friedrichshain at the intersection of Otto-Braun-Straße / Mollstraße , near the Schillingstraße underground station and Alexanderplatz . The Königstadt-Carrée is mainly used for commercial office space and as a hotel.
history
House martin
Prior to the construction of King City Carrée was on the grounds of the 45-meter-high House Martin House , which in 1973 in a reinforced concrete skeleton has been as complete. The main use of the house martin was commercial office use. The prestigious building had to be cleared due to structural defects , so that after the last users moved out in the summer of 1989, it was empty for eleven years. In the course of this, house martins took over the building and began to nest there . On September 3, 2001, however, the demolition of the building by Bauart Beteiligungs GmbH & Co. Mollstrasse KG began to make way for the Königstadt-Carrée . The demolition of the prefabricated building was completed in 2002.
Königstadt-Carrée
Construction of the 25-storey Königstadt-Carrée with a height of 76.80 m began in 2007 and was completed in 2011. The architects for the construction project were the STP architects under the building owner Manfred Herrmann with Bauart Beteiligungs GmbH & Co. Mollstraße KG. The main tenant of the Königstadt-Carrée is the Mercedes-Benz Bank , which occupies around 10,000 m² of the office space.
Building description
The building ensemble is characterized by its glazed curtain wall . The Mercedes-Benz Bank is located in the 22-storey main building. The main building is bordered by a 10-storey, partially glazed auxiliary building, which contains a hotel. There is also a roof terrace at the western corner of the adjoining building. Parts of the facade of the adjoining building are designed as arcades. In the center there is also an access to an underground car park with 157 parking spaces.
