The Köppelmannsberg is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony city ​​of Salzgitter .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG BR 014 is 6.3  hectares in size. It is completely part of the FFH area "Salzgitterscher Höhenzug (southern part)". The area has been a nature reserve since January 2, 1978. The initially 4.3 hectare nature reserve was expanded in 1988 to its current size of 6.3 hectares. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the city of Salzgitter.

The nature reserve is located on the southern edge of Salzgitter-Bad on the southern central part of the Salzgitter ridge made up of limestone . The crest and upper slope of the ridge are covered with dry limestone slope forest, in the lower slope there are semi-dry limestone lawns that merge into the forest with a large fringing area. The hillside forest was previously used as coppice or medium forest , in the area of ​​dry grass, which u. a. is an important habitat for insects and spiders . B. Schwalbenwurz , blue-red stone seeds and willow-leaved elephant and various orchids . In order to preserve the flora , the nature reserve must be looked after. This maintenance is based on the historical forms of use. Parts of the dry grass are grazed with sheep and goats.

At the edge of the nature reserve, a grassland area is included in the reserve. A path that can be entered runs through the nature reserve, which is looked after by NABU .
