The Köppernitz is a flowing body of water in the area of the municipality of Barnekow ( district of Northwest Mecklenburg ) and the city of Wismar in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .
The river has its source south of Krönkenhagen , a district of the municipality of Barnekow and west of the A 20 . From there it flows north and then north-east through Groß Woltersdorf and Klein Woltersdorf , crosses under the B106 and then flows on the south and east edges of the Bürgerpark in Wismar. It flows into the Baltic Sea in the northern area of Wismar and at the southern tip of the Wismar Bay .
