The Kösterbeck is a river in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania near Rostock .

The Kösterbeck is a tributary of the Warnow . The small river runs through the nature reserve of the same name in the Roggentin municipality in part of Rostock Switzerland . This hilly landscape was created as a terminal moraine in the Ice Age. The course of the river, however, has no natural history. It was created as an artificial drainage ditch to create grazing land. This pastureland is known today as "Wolfsberger Seewiesen". The signature for “Uferlinie” can still be found in places on old land maps.

The Kösterbeck arises from several small rivulets that drain the Teufelsmoor near Sanitz , under the name Moehlenbäk approx. 1.5 km south of Sanitz. The natural course of the Kösterbeck was changed through agricultural use and channeled with concrete elements. To the north of the village of Bandelstorf one can find the remains of a dam that was built in the early 20th century for the purpose of generating electricity. The Kösterbeck is crossed by the Federal Highway 19 east of Kessin and after a further 1.3 kilometers flows into the Warnow.

In the years 2011/2012 several sections of the Kösterbeck were renatured at enormous expense.
