The almost 7 km long Küstriner Bach is a near-natural section of the Lychener waters , a left tributary of the upper Havel . in the Uckermärkische Seen nature park . It connects the Großer Küstrinsee with the Lychener Oberpfuhl and is one of the traditional water hiking routes in the north of Brandenburg.

In order to preserve the biodiversity in the stream, a guidance and information system for canoeists was created in cooperation with the World Wide Fund for Nature . The stream between Küstrinchen and Purgatory (former raft lock IV) can only be used downstream and only if the water level is at least 30 cm or more.
