The KEW Municipal Energy and Water Supply AG supplies customers in the Saarland town of Neunkirchen with the municipalities Schiffweiler and Schiffweiler and related districts with electricity, natural gas , water and district heating .
history
On January 1, 1970, the municipal energy and water supply corporation (KEW AG) Neunkirchen / Saar emerged from the merger of Stadtwerke Neunkirchen AG and the special purpose association supply companies Spiesen-Elversberg. In January 1970, the Landsweiler municipal works followed the example of the Zweckverband and were incorporated into KEW AG Neunkirchen on July 1, 1970.
Previously, on December 17, 1964, in preparation for this merger, the Neunkirchen municipal utility had been reorganized from its own operation into a stock corporation, which at that time was supplying the city of Neunkirchen with electricity, water and coke oven gas. The municipal utilities were also responsible for supplying the neighboring community of Wiebelskirchen with electricity.
