The KFC Dessel Sport is a Belgian football club from the small town of Dessel .
history
The history of the club begins during the First World War , when the team played its first games under the name Alberta . The club was officially founded as FC Dessel Sport on January 6, 1926 , when it was entered in the club register of the Belgian Football Association under the trunk number 606 .
After having played only on a regional basis for a long time, in 1967 they were promoted to the national league for the first time when they were promoted to the Vierde class / Division 4 . In 1970 he was promoted to the third division. There the club was given the attribute "koninklijke" in 1976 on the occasion of its 50-year membership in the association and changed its name accordingly.
After the 1983/84 season was unsuccessful, relegation was followed by eleven years in the Vierde class . The recovery in 1995 was followed in 1997 by marching on to the Tweede Class / Division 2 , in which the club played until the 2006/07 season. Only in the decider against the former first division club Verbroedering Geel was the relegation for the KFC Dessel Sport sealed, so that one had to compete again in the 3rd division. In the 2011/12 season, as the champions of Group B, they were finally promoted back to the second division.
