KFNB Comet II

The locomotive factory Sigl in Vienna delivered in 1862 five of them two-cylinder - wet steam -Lokomotiven with the axle formula  1A1 to the KFNB. The machines had the names RAKETE " , BLITZ" , KOMET " , VESTA" and NEPTUN " , at first only numbers, were designated as series IVa from 1869 and as series Ia from 1881. The locomotives had external frames, Hall cranks and an inefficient boiler .

After the global economic crisis ( Gründerkrach ) in 1873, the machines were used in passenger train service. But they weren't suitable for that. For this reason, they were converted into locomotives with the axle formula 1B from 1882–1883 and then referred to as series IIb 1 .

The KOMET " came after the nationalization of KFNB 1906 nor to the Imperial Austrian State Railways (kkStB), in which it the number 407 was formed. It was taken out of the 1913th
