The Cologne Journal for Sociology and Social Psychology (KZfSS) is the most important German-language specialist journal for sociology in terms of distribution and size .
The Impact Factor of the KZfSS was 1,000 in 2018 and 0.871 in 2019. In the statistics of the Social Sciences Citation Index , the journal was ranked 98th out of 139 journals in the “Sociology” category and 55th place out of 60 journals in the “Social Psychology” category. Among the German-language magazines, it took first place in the field of social psychology and second place (after the magazine for sociology ) in the field of sociology.
history
She goes to the 1921 by Leopold von Wiese , Theodor brewers , Christian Eckert and Hugo Lindemann justified Cologne Quarterly Journal of Sociology (KVjhS) and became by him in 1948 as Cologne Journal of Sociology revived. In 1954, René König , his successor to the professorship , expanded it to include social-psychological topics and received the current title; König edited it until 1985. It was thus also part of the Cologne School of Sociology .

The journal's editors are Michael Wagner (University of Cologne), Thomas Schwinn (University of Heidelberg) and Daniela Grunow (University of Frankfurt a. M.). Professors from Austria and Switzerland also sit on the advisory board in order to map the entire German-speaking research area. The Cologne editorial team has been the responsibility of Volker Dreier since August 2006 . The magazine is published in Springer VS .
