Kaaper is the name of an ancient Egyptian official in the transition period from the fourth to the fifth dynasty in the Old Kingdom .

identity

Kaaper was the grandson of Princess Wenschet . A wooden statue of his wife, whose name has not been passed down, was found in his grave .

Kaaper ruled very probably under the kings ( pharaohs ) Mykerinos to Userkaf . Among other things, he carried high-ranking titles such as "Son of the King" ( Sa-nesut ; but only as a purely functional title, Kaaper was not a real prince ), " Supreme reading priest " ( Cheri-habet-heri-tep ) and "Clerk of the royal army " . Kaaper became famous for an almost life-size standing statue made of fine sycamore wood . She is still jokingly called "Sheikh el-Beled" because of her facial features to the then mayorof the place of the same name. The wooden bust of his wife was also made of sycamore wood.

dig

Kaaper was buried together with his wife in the brick mastaba C8 in the official necropolis of Saqqara .
