Science and Technology Agency (Japan)

The Kagaku-Gijutsu-chō ( Jap. 科学技術庁 , Science and Technology Authority ' , Engl. Science and Technology Agency ) was an agency of the Japanese central government, the head (-chōkan) the authority was a minister in the Cabinet . The responsibilities also included nuclear energy and its safety. It existed from 1956 to 2001, when it was added to the reform of the central government with the Ministry of Education and other authorities in the Ministry of Education and Science (English "~ Education, Culture, Sport, Science and Technology").

As early as 1999, all ministers of the authority were also ministers of education, the last minister of the science and technology authority was Machimura Nobutaka .
