Johann Ernst Wenigk

Johann Ernst Wenigk (rarely Wenick ; * May 17, 1702 in Gotha as Johann Ernst Wenig ; † February 10, 1745 in Bischleben ) was a German Lutheran theologian , clergyman and hymn poet .

Life

Wenigk was the son of the court choirmaster Johann Sigmund Wenig († 1709). He was given an emergency baptism right after his birth because of his poor health, which was to accompany him throughout his life. 1709 he came to the school Illustre Gotha and then it was on March 5, 1718 at de University of Jena to study philosophy and theology enrolled . After he obtained his master's degree , he became a pastor in Exdorf and Obendorf .

Wenigk came to Grabsleben and Cobstädt as a pastor in 1731 before taking over the parish in Bischleben in 1735 . The places Rhoda , Stedten an der Gera and Möbisburg belonged to his community. In Stedten he also had to take on the teaching post, as the community could not afford its own teacher. His poor and physical health and immense workload resulted in his untimely death. Shortly after his death, the parish was divided into two parishes.
