Cabinet Uno
The Uno cabinet ( Japanese 宇 野 内閣 , Uno naikaku ) ruled Japan under the leadership of Prime Minister Sōsuke Uno from June 3 to August 10, 1989.
After Noboru Takeshita ( Takeshita faction chaired by Shin Kanemaru ) resigned as chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and prime minister in the wake of the recruit scandal , Uno ( Nakasone faction ) was appointed party chairman on June 2, 1989 and one day later designated as prime minister in parliament .
The UN itself soon became the subject of an extramarital affair scandal. In the election for Sangiin , the upper house, on July 23, 1989, his LDP suffered a devastating defeat and lost the majority in the second chamber. The UN announced his resignation a day later, and the cabinet remained in office until Toshiki Kaifu was elected as his successor at the beginning of August.
