Cabinet Nakasone I
The first cabinet Nakasone ( Japanese 第 1 次 中 曽 根 内閣 , dai-ichi-ji Nakasone naikaku ) ruled Japan under the leadership of Prime Minister Nakasone Yasuhiro from November 27, 1982 to December 27, 1983.
On November 24, 1982 Nakasone won the election as chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), replacing Suzuki Zenko . He was designated Prime Minister by the LDP majority in parliament on November 26, 1982 and one day later presented his cabinet to which, when he took office, including the Prime Minister, 18 ministers of state from the Shūgiin , the lower house, and three from the Sangiin , the upper house, belonged to.
Because of the great influence of the Tanaka faction of ex-Prime Minister Tanaka Kakuei , who had also provided Nakasone with decisive support in the election for party chairmanship, the cabinet was also known as the “Tanakasone Cabinet” ( 田中 曽 根 内閣 , Tanakasone-naikaku ) ridiculed.
Note: The party chairman and prime minister does not officially belong to any political group during his term of office.
