The third cabinet Koizumi ( Japanese 第 3 次 小 造 内閣 , daisanji Koizumi naikaku ) ruled Japan under the leadership of Prime Minister Jun'ichirō Koizumi from September 21, 2005 until a cabinet reshuffle on October 31, 2005. Koizumi and the LDP had been before managed to get a two-thirds majority in the Shūgiin in the 2005 Shūgiin election , which enabled him to outvote the Sangiin if necessary . He had put up strong, loyal candidates, the "assassins", against the so-called "rebels" who had left the LDP because of differences of opinion on planned reforms such as post-privatization and had founded the New People's Party  .
