Kai Nickel (born June 9, 1968 in Ferdinandshof in Western Pomerania) is a German television presenter , director , journalist and photographer .

Life

After two training courses as an upholsterer and restaurant specialist, Nickel began a freelance career as a journalist and photographer in 1991 for the daily newspaper " Nordkurier ". In 1994 he switched to the Norddeutscher Rundfunk as a freelance radio reporter , where he was temporarily employed as a presenter for N-Joy-Radio . In 1998 he began working as a freelancer for the television of the North German Radio .

The ZDF employed him in 2000 as a moderating reporter; especially for the lunchtime magazine " Drehscheibe ".

From 2001 onwards, Nickel and his TV production companies "VisionFilm Berlin" and "Konzert & Television Wien" produced and hosted travel programs about Poland and the German Baltic Sea coast, a documentary and was used live for NDR television in the field.

In 2002 Nickel moved to Austria. There he worked in 2011 as a development producer on the development of the series "Der ABC-Bär" for the children's television "Okidoki" of the ORF . In 2007 he was editor and head of the service for the reality format "Das Traumhaus" for the Austrian private broadcaster ATV .

Kai Nickel was involved as a talent discoverer or promoter during his media career. He discovered and looked after, among others, the musical performer Jana Stelley , the dancer and choreographer Thomas Knack, the musicians and project developers Christian Gohr and Sebastian Megow , whom he also signed as composers for the ORF children's series "The ABC Bear", as well as the Austrian dialect songwriter Matthias Werner .

Between 2005 and 2010 Nickel was (co-) owner of several Austrian catering establishments, in which he was also head chef.

He has been working as a freelance artist since 2014.
