Kalanchoe boranae is a species of the genus Kalanchoe in the thick-leaf family(Crassulaceae).

Vegetative characteristics

Kalanchoe boranae is a perennial , bare small shrub that reaches heights of up to 200 centimeters. The stalked, green leaves are slightly frosted. The rotating, somewhat purple-colored petiole is furrowed on the upper side, widened at the base up to 7 centimeters long. The elongated egg-shaped to somewhat heart-shaped leaf blade is up to 30 centimeters long and 15 centimeters wide. Its tip is pointed, the base trimmed to somewhat heart-shaped. The leaf margin is notched or double notched.

Generative characteristics

The inflorescence is a panicley cyme . It reaches a length of up to 50 centimeters and a width of 30 centimeters. The upright flowers are on 9 to 15 millimeter long peduncles . Your calyx tube is 0.5 to 1 millimeter long. Their narrow lanceolate calyx tips are 7 to 13 millimeters long and 1.5 to 2.5 millimeters wide. The yellowish green corolla tube is 17 to 19 millimeters long. Their cream-colored or yellow corolla lobes are 9 to 10 millimeters long and 5 to 6.5 millimeters wide. The upper stamens protrude from the flower. The anthers are 1.3 to 1.5 millimeters long. The linear nectar flakes are 3 to 4 millimeters long. The carpel has a length of 10 to 12 millimeters. The stylus is 3 to 4 millimeters long.

Systematics and distribution

Kalanchoe boranae is common in northeastern Kenya on dry, rocky places at altitudes of 930 to 1450 meters.
