history
The Church of St. Josef was consecrated in 1897 when the associated house of the order in Reinlgasse was opened as another branch of the Kalasantines . The first rector of the house was Father Wenzel Siman. In 1912 the church was enlarged and two more floors with a large theater were added to the one-story monastery building.

During the Nazi era , the house was confiscated with the exception of a few rooms; in addition, the deployment of the Kalasantines brought them many conflicts with the Nazi regime from 1938 onwards. The then pastor P. Heinrich Wagner was arrested several times by the Gestapo , Dr. Jakob Kastelic, lay leader of the Kalasantine associations, was executed in 1944 after four years in a concentration camp .
On April 5, 1945, the church was badly damaged by a bomb , but was consecrated a year later as the first church to be rebuilt after the Second World War .
Between 1975 and 1984 the monastery building in Reinlgasse also housed the novitiate and clergy of the Kalasantine order. In the mid-1980s, the Kalasantinerkirche St. Josef received its organ built by Friedrich Heftner , which has two manuals and a pedal . From 1995 to 1997 the church was renovated and redesigned.
