The Kalbling is a hill on the north-western border of the city of St. Pölten and Karlstetten in the Lower Austrian Alpine Foreland .

geography

The Kalbling is a wooded crest of the Pielach-Traisen-Platte , the threshold that stretches from the pre-Alps of the Türnitz Alps between the Pielach lowlands and the Lower Traisental towards the Danube to the Dunkelsteiner Forest . It rises almost 50 meters from this plateau.

The mountain lies between Weitern ( Viehofen district ) in the east, Waitzendorf ( St. Pölten district ) in the southwest, Wernersdorf ( Neidling municipality ) in the west and Obermamau (Karlstetten municipality) in the north. Karlstettner Straße / L162 runs directly on the mountain from Kupferbrunn up to Karlstetten .

To the north the Fladnitz goes to the Danube, to the east the Bach von Weitern to the Fladnitz, to the southwest the Waitzendorfer Graben, which drains via Moosbach - Kremnitzbach to the Pielach .

Development

There are two flood tanks in the city on the mountain . The system was built in 1997 by the St. Pölten waterworks. The elevated tank system consists of two tanks with a volume of 5000 m³ and 3000 m³, and a pump house with a UV system. The larger tank, together with the elevated tank system in Völtendorf, supplies the core zone, the smaller the high zone west, which includes the districts of Eisberg , Kupferbrunn , Weidern , Ragelsdorf , Hafing , Nadelbach and Pummersdorf and parts of the municipality of Karlstetten .
