Neidling is a market town with 1472 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the district of Sankt Pölten-Land in Lower Austria .
geography
Neidling is located in the Mostviertel northwest of St. Pölten on the eastern edge of the Dunkelsteinerwald . The area of the municipality covers 18.57 square kilometers. 36.21 percent of the area is forested.

history
In ancient times, the area was part of the Noricum province . A church in the Neidlinger municipality is mentioned for the year 828.
The Goldegg lordship with Goldegg Castle , which has been in the possession of the Barons von Enenkel since 1589 and has been owned by the Auersperg family since 1782, was the center of today's municipality until 1848. Today's community was established in 1850. The community, which is characterized by above-average growth and whose housing stock increased by two thirds between 1971 and 2006, has a supra-local significance in the field of business, but also through the golf course at Goldegg Castle .

The book Ritterstolz und Arbitrariness reports on medieval life between Dunkelsteinerwald and Tullnerfeld, which was written by Neidlinger author and local researcher August Pachschwöll (who also created Neidling's coat of arms) as an approach to this era. In the section “In the footsteps of the Goldegger”, the question of the origin and family ties of the gentlemen of Goldegg is reported for the first time.
