The Kaltenbach is a left tributary of the White Elster in Saxony .

course

The Kaltenbach rises near Syrau . Its catchment area has been designated a Kaltenbach natural monument . It flows through Jößnitz in Vogtland to the White Elster . After crossing the federal road 92 between Plauen and Steinsdorf , it stretches east through fields and forest areas towards Jößnitz. It is dammed into a pond that is used for fish farming. When it was created in the mid-1980s, it was also intended to irrigate the surrounding LPG areas.

The stream reaches Jößnitz at the level of Poppenpöhl. An extinguishing water extraction point was set up here next to the main road . Below the castle of Jößnitz it flows around the park, in which the park pond is located, which is fed by its water.

The Sattelbach, which comes from the Oberjößnitz district, flows into the Kaltenbach in the area of the park . In a tunnel-like railway underpass it then crosses the Leipzig – Hof railway line and before it goes into the Reissiger city forest, the Jößnitzbach flows into it. In the forest, the Kaltenbach then feeds the grinding pond that was created for the operation of the Pfaffenmühle . It flows through the Nymphental to the south-east of Röttis past an old tunnel mouth hole used in ore mining. Finally, the Kaltenbach flows into the White Elster at the Teufelskanzel.
