Kaltenhausen is a wasteland that is now in the area of the Eisenheim district of Untereisenheim in the Lower Franconian district of Würzburg .

Geographical location

Kaltenhausen is located in the extreme south of the Eisenheim municipality. The hamlet is about 935 m as the crow flies from Untereisenheim to the north. To the west, separated by the Main, is the Volkach district of Fahr in the Kitzingen district. The so-called White House is on state road St2260 in the south and the Eisenheim stop of the Mainschleifenbahn is located .

history

Kaltenhausen was first mentioned in 1235, when the place was called "Caldenhusin". Nevertheless, it can be concluded that there was an earlier rule in the Kaltenhausen area: The Fulda monastery was already wealthy in the area in 788 . It was replaced by the Steigerwaldkloster Ebrach in the 12th century . During the 13th century the monks converted the village to a grangie .

In 1340 the Curie Kaltenhausen appeared in the Klosterurbar . At that time, several fields and vineyards belonged to the grangie. In 1464, Fahr am Main sold Kaltenhausen to the nearby community of Untereisenheim. Untereisenheim continued to manage the mark. However, the courtyard stood empty for a long time in the 15th century. In a tenth description of Prosselsheim from 1575 then the "courtyard and was muel to Kaltenhausen" mentioned again.

The Hochrein brewery was founded in Kaltenhausen in 1819 and closed in 1982. There is now a beer garden in the former brewery building. In the course of the municipal reform in Bavaria, Kaltenhausen came to the newly formed municipality of Eisenheim in 1978.

A small chapel , a small solid building with a hipped roof, also dates from the 18th century . The Fahr Main ferry connects Kaltenhausen with the nearby Mainschleife around Volkach.
