The Kamow Ka-10 ( Russian Камов Ка-10 , NATO Code Name : Hat, dt .: hat ) is a smaller, simpler and experimental observation helicopter Soviet helicopter manufacturer Kamow . It is an enlarged development of the first Kamow helicopter Ka-8 .
Like the Ka-8 , the Ka-10 has coaxial rotors , two swimmers and a single-seat, open cockpit, but only the Ivchenko AI-4W piston engine built into the Ka-10 had sufficient power for extended test and demonstration flights.
The first flight of the Ka-10 took place in 1949, only twelve pieces were built for test purposes, eight of them as Ka-10M with a double tail unit and rudder . Due to the limited performance of the Ka-10, the series production for the Soviet Navy did not take place; the two-seat Ka-15 was developed for this purpose .
