The canton of Chojña is an administrative district in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The canton of Chojña is one of twenty-two cantons of the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Caranavi in the province of Caranavi and is located in the southern part of the district. It borders in the northeast with the canton of Santa Ana de Caranavi , in the northwest with the canton Uyunense , in the west with the canton Incahuara de Ckullu Kuchu , in the southwest with the canton Choro , in the south with the province Nor Yungas , and in the east with the canton Taypiplaya .

The canton extends between 15 ° 55 'and 16 ° 04' south latitude and 67 ° 30 'and 67 ° 36' west latitude, it measures up to fifteen kilometers from north to south and up to ten kilometers from west to east. The canton has 26 localities ( localidades ), the central place is Chojña with 114 inhabitants ( 2012 ) in the northern part of the canton.

The canton of Chojña is located in the Bolivian Yungas on the eastern slope of the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Real . The region's climate is typical of the time of day , with mean temperatures fluctuating more during the day than during the year.

The annual precipitation here in the subtropical Yungas is 1100 mm (see Coroico climate diagram) and has a clear dry season from May to August and a rainy season from December to February.
